Preserving the national documentary heritage and enabling access to information and knowledge
Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) is a state corporation with a mandate to promote, establish, equip, manage, maintain, and develop the National Library of Kenya; and collect, preserve, make available and promote the national documentary heritage for both present and future generations. Two of the key features of KNLS is that it is the national bibliographic agency, thus ensuring production of a comprehensive annual Kenya National Bibliography; and also, the International Standard Book (ISBN) agency that manages the issuance of ISBNs to all Kenyan Publishers and Authors. KNLS has its headquarters at Maktaba Kuu Building, with two branches at Buruburu and Nakuru.
