At the Kenya National Library Service (KNLS), we proudly uphold this responsibility through the legal deposit system. What is a Legal Deposit? The Books and Newspapers Act, Cap 111 (1987) mandates every publisher in Kenya to submit two copies of each newly published title to KNLS within 14 days of publication This includes:

• Books
• Journals
• Sheet music
• Maps, plans, charts, or tables

KNLS has been publishing the KNB since 1980, assuming full responsibility in 1984 after amendments to the KNLS Board Act. How to Deposit Your Work Authors and publishers can submit their works at the following KNLS facilities:

• Maktaba Kuu in Upper Hill
• Buruburu Library
• Nakuru Library
